Overview

North of Rome, you’ll find the town of Sutri – an ancient settlement constructed inside and on top of volcanic tuff rock. The town is famous for the Sutri Amphitheatre that was constructed between the first and second centuries of the Common Era. Consisting of three levels, it could have help up to 9,000 people. Its elliptical shape stands out amongst Roman architecture. If you visit, keep an eye out for the size of the steps. Their small size can’t be explained by archaeologists!
